Saturday
Setting off from Wroxham you follow the natural meander of the River Bure, passing through some of the most picturesque Broadland villages and hubs of the Norfolk Broads, including Horning, Ludham and Potter Heigham. You then pick-up the country lanes heading north towards the coast, passing through some of the finest agricultural land in the country, before hitting the north sea at Happisburgh, with its prominent lighthouse standing tall over the village and still shining bright to this day!
As you hug the coastal road we pass the famous birthing grounds of The Atlantic Grey seal colony at Horsey, before arriving at the halfway point of your day at Winterton-on-sea.
After lunch you continue along the coast road, passing through the popular seaside resort of Hemsby before heading inland, travelling past Ormseby Broad and then picking-up the River Bure again, but for your return journey you are cruising through the towns and villages on the southern edges of the Bure Marshes National Nature Reserve.
On the final push you navigate the fringes of Norwich, the county town of Norfolk and then briefly head north to the second most famous Buxton and the finally head for your days final destination & where the day started, Wroxham and a well earned coffee by the river!.
Sunday
Once again departing from Wroxham, you follow a familiar friend in the meandering River Bure, all the way up to the Market town of Aylsham when you part company. After cruising around the permitter of Blickling Hall estate, you head due north through prime agricultural country before heading west in pursuit of the salty sea air at Blakeney and a likely headwind as the sea breeze whips off the North Sea.
You circumnavigate the beautiful coastal village of Blakeney with its stunning flint cottages, thriving quayside and postcard worthy marshes, creeks and sand banks as you gaze out to sea. You pick-up the coastal road and have short sprint to Weybourne where you stop for a well-earned lunch break.
After Lunch strap yourselves in for 38km of beautiful riding following the Norfolk coastline and taking in the popular fishing towns of Sheringham & Cromer, you may even get ourselve a quick pitstop to sample one of Norfolk’s most famous exports, the Cromer Crab. Hugging the coastline, you continue south passing through stunning coastal villages and we are sure on a warm day the lure of the sea will be overwhelming, so you might take a quick paddle.
You head West on the final leg of the weekends riding, passing through the market town of Stalham at the head of Barton Broad before finally reaching your finish line for the weekend back at Wroxham.
